Community EventsThe Men's Club of the Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd will hold a spaghetti supper on Tuesday, February 7 from 4:30pm to 7:00pm. The church is located at 315 North 6th Street in Brainerd. Adults $8.00 and those under 12, $5.00. In observance of Black History Month, the Central Lakes College Diversity Leadership Council and Minnesota Department of Human Rights on Tuesday, February 7 will host a free, public presentation, “The Dream Alive,” as a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement. The 90-minute presentation starts at 10 a.m. in the Brainerd campus gymnasium at CLC. The Crosslake Chautauqua Program featuring Brian Carlson with "How To Keep Your Up-North Home In The Family," will be held on Wednesday, February 8 from 1:30pm - 3:30pm at the Crosslake Community Center. Admission is free. The Friends of the Pine River Library invite you to a wine & beer tasting on Friday, February 10 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at the VFW Post in Jenkins. Tickets are $15.00 in advance; $20.00 at the door. All proceeds will be applied to the re-paument of the library roof project. There will be hors d'oeuvres and a silent auction. Deborah Elias Danza Espanola will present a trilogy of traditional Spanish Flamenco, dance, guitar and song, together for an exciting evening of pure passion. This presentation, under the auspices of the Greater Lakes Area Performing Arts group, will be held on Saturday, February 11 on the Pequot Lakes High School state at 7:30pm. The 33rd Annual Holy Family Parish Fishing Derby will be held on Bulldog Lake on Saturday, February 11 from 12:30pm - 2:00pm. There will be on-ice prizes during fishing, a log sawing contest and in general, fun for the whole family. Holes will be drilled at no cost. The Staples Motley Arts Council presents Billy McLaughlin & His Electric String Quartet on Saturday, February 11 at 7:30pm. The concert will take place in the Centennial Auditorium in Staples. Admission is $6 for general, unreserved seating. CLC students pay 25 cents. February 11 and February 12 are Pay-What-You – Can performances with a minimum cost of $1.
